Building Communities, Companies and Projects in Weekends

Upcoming Weekends

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

So we’ve got lots in store for Startup Weekend and I wanted to fill everyone in on what they should be expecting and some of the details of the upcoming events.

San Antonio Startup Weekend will be around the corner before you know it and I’m very excited! Taking place May 16th-18th at theĀ  San Antonio Technology Center this one is going to be a BLAST. I’ve been talking with several talented people in San Antonio including Jennifer Navarrete and Celeste Diaz Ferraro about all of the cool things that will be happening and they have helped get the ball rolling like you wouldn’t believe.

This Startup Weekend takes place at an awesome facility in that we will have the necessities such as Internet access and some fun entertainment, a place to relax, a place for fun and games and much more.

May 16th is quickly approaching and as always our space is limited so if you haven’t reserved your spot please consider doing so as quickly as possible. At $40 for three days filled with learning, community building, fun, schwag, food, drinks and more you can’t get a better deal.

We’ve got the facilities Friday at 6pm - 10pm, Saturday 9am - midnight, Sunday 9am - 9pm and can’t wait to see you at the event!

Also for those of you in the Portland area or attending the WebVisions event we’ve got another weekend coming up that will be of interest.

Portland Startup Weekend will be kicking off at the end of the amazing WebVisions event which will be the place to be for anyone who consider themselves a technology enthusiast on Thursday and Friday.

Read more up on the WebVisions event here and plan on sticking around Portland because Portland Startup Weekend gets kicked off after the WebVisions event and the ending keynote by Google’s own Jeffrey Veen. Be sure to hurry and register for $40 for Portland Startup Weekend. Spots are being reserved fast and you will want to attend.

In the pipe as well is the Memphis Startup Weekend which will be taking place May 30th - June 1st. I’m really excited for this one as well because Harry Brown and the guys in Memphis are doing an AMAZING job of getting the community around the idea of LaunchMemphis. This is really cool because they’ve got the entire community buzzing about technology and startups for six weeks with Startup Weekend being the climax of the event. Again at only $40 you can’t find a three day event with more food, fun, and scwag for a better price. Head on over here and get registered for the event and if you are in the Memphis area be sure to read up on LaunchMemphis and the other great events these guys have planned for the area.

We’ve got even more great weekends coming soon and I’ll be keeping you all up-to-date on the latest here on the website so stay tuned.

Portland Oregon Startup WeekendYou ready?

Startup Weekend is proud to announce that the Portland Startup Weekend will be held May 23-25 2008. This is Memorial day weekend, so plan accordingly. Surprisingly, this date worked the best when a sample from the cityvote project was polled. It will be great to have a nice northwestern spring day on Monday to enjoy as a holiday (which is a huge plus). This will be the 17th Startup Weekend to take place across the globe.

Please blog, twitter, IM and tell your friends about the weekend (and feel free to use this logo and link to this post). Oregon is my home state and I can’t wait to get back.

A nice intimate set will be provided by the great folks at SMtvMusic.com. We already have quite a few surprises planned for the first Startup Weekend in Oregon.

So, you want to get involved? Contact cities@startupweekend.com if you would like to help plan the event.

So what can you do?

Tickets for Startup Weekend Portland will be sold here for $40. This is really a RSVP cost, and you will receive your fair share of food, swag and memories. If you or your company is interested in sponsoring a meal, shirts or massive amounts of caffeine, email sponsor@startupweekend.com.
