Startup the Show #8 - Seattle

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

What a whirlwind tour Seattle was— really an enjoyable weekend with friends.

I was able to grab the mic and record a podcast with Kimm Viebrock who was the very first person from Seattle to find out about Startup Weekend and reach out to me.  Kimm and the room of 122 showed me how Seattle works (must have process!) and a huge thing or two about the concept and how it can be improved.  This was recorded 10 minutes from launch while walking through the big room at the Adobe offices in Fremont.

Startup The Show: #7 Expectations

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

What expectations should you have going into a weekend? Some LA Startup Weekend founders answer that question and more. Some of their answers surprised me.

Startup The Show: #6 The Power of Doing it Now

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Five Startup Weekend Los Angeles founders discuss their thoughts on “The Power of Doing it Now.”   This conversation was just starting when I walked upon it, and thought it would make a really interesting podcast.  In the episode, the founders share their thoughts on collaboration, speed, inspiration and community (and how participating in SW has jumpstarted their old projects).

Startup The Show: #5 Conversation

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

So today was the day of the great day for conversations on the web, spurred by one single post, and the aftermath has been called “The great Jeremiah Owyang Twitter expansion of 2007.”  In the post, titles so boldly “Some Conversations have shifted to Twitter” Jeremiah describes who he thinks twitter is for and not.

If you’re in the tech industry, and in marketing, you should be paying attention to what’s happening on twitter. There’s even search tools that can help you find discussions and memes. Also, if you’re trying to reach early adopters, these are tools for you. This really reminds me of the the whole blogging industry in 2005, it’s the same type of pros and cons –it’s just much smaller now. If you don’t meet these criterion, then it may not be for you, always remember to find the audience you’re trying to reach first.

For episode #5 Rana and Andrew (or as this discussion goes, @ranajune and @andrewhyde) discuss what it means to form the conversation, how it affects startups and Twitter best practices.  Oh the joys of an entire podcast dedicated to the 140 character update.
